5 Easy and Effective Ways To Support Independent Artists!

The world of independent artists is growing, and you might be wondering what the best way is for you to show the love to your favorite artist besides tipping or buying an album. While those are great options, we have a list of both free and monetary ways you can support independent artists and their music career.

Stream and download their music

Making music is a big investment for independent artists because it is most likely coming out of their own pocket. So, if you are able to stream or buy a single that helps greatly so they are able to continue making the music that you love.

Buy their merchandise

Now there are free ways to support artists, but purchasing merch is also a great way to spread the love! You rep your new favorite artist and that spreads the word. Anything from stickers, pins, t-shirts, or hats. In some cases, these items are handmade by the artist since they know the demand is limited. So, this is the same as supporting someone’s small business! Another win win!

Share their music with your friends (and on playlists)

Maybe the next time you are putting together your road trip playlist, you can throw on a few lesser-known indie tracks between the top forty hits. If you and all your friends have a couple undiscovered faves, then all of you get a taste of some of those hidden gems we all love so much. Playlists are great because the artist can see what you title them, and it is a super fun way to interact with fans. We also have playlists of some of our favorite artists HERE so you can get new songs weekly or SUBMIT your music to be featured in an upcoming week!

Go to their shows at independent venues

If you are lucky enough to live in the same city as your favorite independent artist – go to their shows!! Social media is one thing but if they can prove they can put butts in seats it shows industry professionals they are worth watching out for in the future. That does not necessary mean getting signed, as that is not every artist’s end goal, however it could get them leverage and bigger gigs knowing they have a dedicated audience.

So hopefully this helped you with noticing different ways you can support your favorite independent artists! Remember if you are not in a place to support them monetarily then just show up for them on socials and at free shows if you can.
