Interview: Twinnie Talks Opry and Single “The Greatest Love Story”

From making her debut on the Grand Ole Opry stage to being named one of CMT’s Next Women in Country, English country singer Twinnie has released her brand new single “The Greatest Love Story.” Twinnie has an incredibly interesting story, she grew up in a Romani Traveling community, danced back up for artist’s like Robin Thicke, and performed in West End shows “Chicago” and “Rock of Ages.” The triple threat started her solo career in 2020 and has only continued to gain momentum and high praise from critics.

I had the amazing opportunity to talk with Twinnie about her opry debut, her newest single, and more.

How has your 2024 been so far, Twinnie?

It’s been amazing so far, I’m excited about this new batch of music that I have coming out and can’t wait to hear people’s thoughts on Greatest Love Story

Having my video for Lonely Long premiered on Times Square in NYC was just incredible. Also, being named as one of CMT’s Next Women Of Country 2024 was such a huge moment.

So can you talk about your journey as a West End performer to Country artist?

I’ve always loved performing and being on stage but didn’t know anyone in the industry. So being on the West End allowed me to hone my skills and meet people which led me to visiting Nashville and eventually becoming an artist.

Who or what got you into songwriting? What is your favorite part of the process?

Just being around storytellers and listening to people like Dolly Parton, Billy Joel, Shania Twain, all the greats. That inspires me so much, I just love bringing a story to life.

You recently had your opry debut, can you talk more about what that was like?

That was the most incredible moment for me and I’m so grateful for the people who helped make it happen. Stepping into the circle was surreal and it still feels like a pinch me moment. It was an honour and I’m still on cloud 9.

You’ve got your new single, Greatest Love Story” out now. Could you expand on the themes that inspired this song?

This song was actually inspired by my mum and step dads, story they met 20 years ago while they were single. My mum sent him a letter confessing she liked him but he never got the letter and was dating someone else a few months later because he thought my mum wasn’t interested. She then met my dad and the rest is history. Flash forward to 20 years later they met up again and have been together ever since. So it’s about the one that got away but in my mum’s case he got away for 20 years.

Who did you work with when producing this single? Any stories from the recording process?

Chris Rafetto produced this one and he did an amazing job. I always love working with him and being in the studio. He’s just incredible at what he does. I wrote it with Phil Barton, Chris and Keseey Timmer, all amazing writers.

What has been your favorite show or venue to play at and why?

I’ve played some incredible stages but the Opry is my number one for sure. That was such a pivotal moment and I’m so thankful I’m a part of the history there.

You moved from London to Nashville in order to follow your dreams as a country singer, do you have any advice for artists looking to make a big move like that?

It’s scary for sure but you’ll regret it more if you stay where you and let fear win. We only get one life so if you feel like your dream is somewhere else, take that leap. It’ll pay off.

I see you are also the founder of “I Know A Woman” global music collective. Can you share more about what it is and what inspired you to create it?

I started the collective in 2020 when lockdown was taking so much away from creatives. There needs to be a better practice to ensure creatives are protected and I Know A Woman is working towards that and helping to grow the industry in a safe way where mental health is put first.

What are some of your goals – whether musically or otherwise – for 2024?

I’d love to play the Opry again, Tour across the US and just grow my music and global reach to the next level.
