Kirstie Kraus and Christie Huff Release Anthem With “Dab A Dolly”

Taking influence from female country legends like Dolly Parton, artists Kirstie Kraus and Christie Huff have collaborated to release their latest single “Dab A Dolly.” Kraus moved to Nashville in 2017 to pursue her singer/songwriter career and has since opened for acts like Thomas Rhett and Walker Hayes. Meanwhile Huff splits her time between LA and Nashville, influenced by a country pop sound she has opened for acts like Bebe Rexha and Country Music Hall of Fame Inductee Toby Keith. These women are excited about what this song will do for country music, and I couldn’t agree more. Kraus and Huff are a wonderful example of how amazing it is when female country artists support each other.

“Dab A Dolly” has a classic country sound, with a touch of modern pop influences. The song cleverly makes references to some of Dolly’s most iconic songs through the lyrics and the riffs, “don’t get too busy in a 9 to 5 that you forget to make a life.” The hook of the track sings, “a dab of Dolly is good for everyone.” The duo emphasizes how much of a pick-me-up she is and how her music creates an international connection. Kraus and Huff’s voices blend beautifully, incorporating harmonies throughout. The richness in the vocals makes the song unique and fun to listen to.

When talking about what inspired the track, Kraus shared, “We wrote it when we were on our first tour run together. I kept saying there’s a little dab a dolly for ya after I would cover a Dolly Parton song and Christie turned to me and said let’s just write that on Monday”.

Overall, the production is able to encompass this carefree feeling all while spotlighting this important message of continuing to support and fight for women in country music to be heard. Parton was a trailblazer and proof that women have the ability to connect with all walks of life across generations.
