Brooke Stein Gets Real With Single “Pretty”

Taking a leap of faith, country singer Brooke Stein packed up her life in Ohio and moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue her dreams of becoming an artist. She has already gained traction in Music City; Stein has carved out a spot for herself on Broadway, playing at renowned honky tonks like Kid Rock’s. In addition, she has played her original music at iconic local venues like The End and The Basement East. In the short ten months she has been in Nashville, she found her footing and released her debut single, “Pretty,” to the world on March 1, 2024.

“Pretty” is a vulnerable track, filled with vivid pictures of Stein feeling low in her life. Whether it is her mom telling her a story about beautiful princesses and not seeing herself in them, or late at night as a teen looking in the mirror pointing out her flaws. It is a confessional song with a real story: and a great place to start as a country artist. It is personable to her, “You′d think those thoughts / maybe they’d disappeared / When they crowned me the prom queen / Of senior year / But when I looked in that mirror / I didn’t see pretty.” It shows that everyone struggles with self-image and that is okay – self-love is a lifelong journey.

The production allows Stein’s vocals to shine, she has a clear voice on this track and the instruments simply follow her lead. With a track that is so story-driven, it is nice that the lyrics take reign of the song and the production simply mirrors the emotions.

Overall, this debut single not only introduces the listener to Stein as an artist, but as a human. Being this raw out the gate proves that Stein has some real things to say. So, if you have not checked out Brooke Stein’s single “Pretty” go give it a listen and be on the lookout for her future releases!
