Cole Greenwalt Is A Modern Day Outlaw with Single “For No One”

With the love of country music in his blood and roots, singer-songwriter Cole Greenwalt has released his debut single “For No One.” The Nashville-based artist grew up performing with his dad and uncle, where he cultivated a love for songwriting and never looked back. Greenwalt has played all over his birthplace of Kentucky and at many local iconic Nashville venues like Live Oak and Commodore Grille. He recently even opened for Kelsey Hart who is signed to Curb Records.

As soon as the track begins, it definitely has an outlaw country vibe. It is the kind of song that would fit perfectly in a wild west dual movie scene. Greenwalt’s country drawl and raspiness fit perfectly into this sound. The electric guitars have a cool edge to them while the acoustic guitar has more of an upbeat consistency for tempo.

The lyrics really tell a story of love and loss. In the song, Greenwalt describes the couple as a “modern day Bonnie and Clyde” and that is exactly what the chorus paints. “Here I stand clutchin’ stems in my hand / All that’s left of you’se a wilted rose and your gun / The lawman’s on his way but this is where I’ll stay / Sittin’ picking flowers for no one,” he sings.

It maps out a story of a man’s life from start to end, packed with details like Phoebe Bridger’s cover of “You Missed My Heart.”

When asked what Greenwalt and his producer, Nathan Peterson’s, goal for the single was, they shared, “It is [our] take on a Marty Robbins gunfighter ballad written in a modern perspective.”

So, if you’re looking for a modern-day Outlaw country artist, I encourage you to check out Cole Greenwalt debut single “For No One” and if you’re in Nashville go see him live!
